TechNews: A Look Inside Apple's New Macbook - Comes With One USB Port (USB-C)

Who would have thought that the most interesting thing to come out of Apple's "Spring Forward" event would actually be a new laptop? In addition to spilling more details on its new smartwatch, the company also unveiled a brand-new (and long-awaited) update to the MacBook Air. Well, sort of. The "new MacBook," as it's called isn't actually an upgrade to the Air at all; it exists as an entirely new product line, separate from both the Air and the Pro. At $1,299, it won't be cheap, but it's for people who demand the thinnest and lightest possible design from Apple, without having to compromise on the screen quality (as you normally would when you buy an Air). I had the opportunity to get hands-on after today's event, and came away impressed -- not just with its fanless design, but with the Retina display, pressure-sensitive trackpad and redesigned keyboard. That said, it's not for everyone.
The New Macbook
You'd be forgiven if you thought the new MacBook was a replacement to the current Air. This new machine has a similar aesthetic, with a unibody aluminum chassis, available in three colors; black keys; and a wedge-shaped profile. It also has a stunning 12-inch 2,304 x 1,440 Retina display that's equal to all the other Retina displays in quality, if not actual resolution. In other words, it clearly shares the same DNA as its stablemates. But man, is it ever so much lighter than the Air. At two pounds, it makes the Air (which I'm using to type this) feel like a heavy, old thing. I actually feel a bit bummed I'm using this instead. At this weight, too, it's nearly as light as the "world's lightest laptop" that Lenovo showed off at CES, except the build quality is far superior here. Apple was able to get the weight down without having to resort to cheap-feeling materials. That alone is no small feat.
Thinnest Of the New Macbook has been reduced by 24%
To achieve this thinness -- just 13.1mm at its thickest point -- Apple had to redesign the keyboard you would normally find on the Air. This was a serious gamble on Apple's part: The Air's springy, well-spaced keyboard is one of the reasons many people prefer it over rival machines. Indeed, I actually cringed a bit when I first saw the new MacBook's button layout: The keys here really don't have much travel. Given that I review Ultrabooks for a living, and am so often tasked with testing shallow keyboards, I almost instinctively cocked my hands a certain way; I was prepared for a keyboard that wouldn't offer much resistance under heavy typing.
It turns out, I just needed to give it a chance -- and learn to trust the machine, which admittedly takes time. Though the backlit buttons are indeed flat, and while they aren't cushy, they are still springy. They pop back up when I hit them. That means I can type at a gingerly pace and know that for the most part, I won't miss a key, and that most of my button presses will register. If this were another machine, I might unconsciously start mashing the buttons, just to make sure I don't have to go back and re-type anything. I was prepared to do that here, but quickly felt my hands relax once I realized they didn't actually need to work that hard. Again, though, there could still be a learning curve for those of you upgrading from an older MacBook.
The trackpad has also received an update. Don't worry, it's still a spacious glass surface, and it still excels at all the basic stuff, like single-finger tracking and two-finger scrolling. But it's now pressure-sensitive too, which opens up possibilities for lots of new gestures, even beyond the ones you already know. For instance, I can press and hold my finger down over an address in Mail, only to see a map pop up. I can do the same in Safari as a way of getting a Wikipedia summary. It also works in Finder, allowing me to preview files. My favorite, though -- and I imagine the favorite of anyone watching the keynote -- is the ability to fast-forward or rewind extra fast in QuickTime by bearing down on the arrow icons. Throughout, the experience feels very controlled; very deliberate. I can't see how you would accidentally use a Force Touch gesture if you didn't mean to. A light tap on the touchpad means something totally different than a hard press with your finger. Even if you press lightly and keep your finger there, that's not the same as applying real pressure. The machine knows better. It has what I'd call the touchpad equivalent of palm rejection.
And It Comes with HD Retina Display
But back to the thickness. Apple didn't just have to retool the keyboard. It also had to rethink what kind of ports could even fit on a machine this thin. With this next-gen system, Apple moved to just a reversible USB Type-C port, the same size as a typical micro-USB socket. From there, you can use the port to charge the device, as well as use adapters to make it work with HDMI, VGA and DisplayPorts on other devices. On the one hand, this seems a bit inevitable -- I can tell you now that other PC makers have laptops in the works with USB Type-C ports. On the other hand, there's only one such port here (not even two) and also, that kind of port is hardly ubiquitous yet. For people used to plugging in full-sized USB connectors into their existing laptops, this could be an off-putting change indeed. I know I'm not used to it.
So will that be a dealbreaker? For some people, yes. It depends on how much you need that Retina display -- and that two-pound design. The regular Air might still offer even longer battery life, not to mention all the ports you need. But it weighs more, and the screen is far inferior to the one here. Meanwhile, if you wanted this kind of screen quality (and all the usual ports), you'd have to step up to the MacBook Pro with Retina display, which is obviously much heavier. For Mac diehards, then, that leaves little choice if portability and screen quality are important. For the more OS-agnostic among you, though, the decision could be tougher. We've seen some very thin, lightweight Windows machines and some of them, like the Dell XPS 13, even make do with more powerful processors than the low-power Intel Core M chip used here. And yes, they have all the usual ports, too. That's something to keep in mind as you're shopping -- and for me to remember when I eventually write my full review.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's Would Cost $250M

Kim Kardashian’s schedule for 2015 includes filing for divorce from Kanye West but little else with the father of her only child, North West. Both Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West have some important plans for 2015 that have recently been revealed, and it seems the two will be living separate lives, ultimately resulting in divorce. The self-absorbed couple has looked even more miserable lately than usual—pictured twice with Kanye grousing and Kim walking ahead ignoring him almost as much as she ignores daughter North West.

The question most people are asking is, 'Is Kim Kardashian pregnant and divorcing Kanye West?' Kim and Kanye have shocked the world by somehow making it this far along in their marriage, but it looks like that’s the best they can do. Don’t feel bad guys – nobody thought you would even make it to this point before divorce got you.
According to In Touch Weekly, Kim Kardashian is pregnant with her second kid, but that doesn’t matter to Kanye. He wants to dump Kim and her fame-whore-y pregnant ass, especially after the second nude scandal.

A ‘source’ tells In Touch Weekly that Kanye and Kim have been fighting incessantly, and Kim has been complaining about how it’s ‘unfair’ that she’s expected to follow Kanye around the world all the time. Um, maybe it’s because he has a career and she doesn't…?
Then, this ‘source’ claims that Kanye has a narcissistic personality disorder [tell us something we don’t know] and that he’s blaming Kim for the nude photo leak.
Eh. I’m usually all for blaming the Kardashians for anything that ever gets ‘leaked’, but this was actually not her fault and no matter Kanye’s own issues, I think he knows that. However, I also think there’s a 0.00001% chance that Kim would ever pick a fight with Kanye, knowing that his ego would never be able to take such criticisms. There is just no way would that Kim Kardashian risk losing her biggest ticket to fame since her sex tape by divorcing her megalomaniac and if she has to follow Kanye West around the world and pretend as though she hates the attention, so be it. She’ll totally make the ‘sacrifice’, and she won’t complain about it. Nice try, ‘source’.
Also, if Kim really was pregnant with her second baby, Kanye would wait until shegave birth to that baby and then peace out. He’s not going to risk losing custody of his own children just because he can’t put up with Kim’s whining.

One thing Kim didn’t ignore in the Tweet, however, was the chance to endorse a bronzer from the Kardashian line of tanning creams. Kim knows she’s got to step up all her marketing efforts and is hoping to get some more endorsement deals as she is trying to plan for a future without Kanye…and his money. Kim knows that the divorce could cost her a pretty penny…basically because she is an expert now…so she is carefully planning ahead.
Kanye West, pictured angrily trailing behind Kim Kardashian, is planning a major tour this year that has been kept pretty quiet. The only confirmation came from singer Rihanna’s charity as they auctioned off a special private VIP package for some unlucky lucky winner who will get to spend time with Kanye. Official dates have not yet been announced.

Health Benefits Of Plantain Chips

Treating yourself to your favorite snacks plays an important role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle -- if you restrict yourself too much, you're more likely to fall off the wagon and drop your healthy habits, explains the Siteman Cancer Center website. While they should not make daily appearances in your diet, both plantain and potato chips are fine when consumed in moderation and treated as treats. Both plantain and potato chips offer some nutritional value, and plantain chips have a few nutritional advantages over potato.

  • Basic Nutrition Information

Plantain and potato chips both contain roughly 300 calories per 2-ounce serving, and provide 15 percent of the daily energy intake in a standard 2,000-calorie diet. They both provide abundant carbohydrates -- 29 grams per serving of potato chips and 36 grams per serving of plantain chips -- which fuel your muscles, brain and other cells and tissues, and also offer a small amount of protein. Plantain chips contain slightly less fat than potato chips, at 17 grams compared to potatoes chips' 21.

  • Lower Sodium

Opt for plantain chips as a lower-sodium alternative to potato chips. Limiting your sodium intake promotes life-long health, because a high sodium intake contributes to chronic health issues, including high blood pressure, stroke and kidney damage. A 2-ounce portion of potato chips contains 272 milligrams of sodium -- 18 percent of your daily intake limit, established by the Institute of Medicine. An equivalent portion of plantain chips contains 115 milligrams of sodium, or just 8 percent of your daily limit.

  • Vitamins A and C

Plantain chips offer more vitamins A and C compared to potato chips. Both vitamins help keep your skin healthy and benefit your immune system to keep you free of infection. Vitamin A also plays a role in low-light vision, while vitamin C's antioxidant function protects your tissues from damage. A serving of plantain chips contains 786 international units of vitamin A -- 34 percent of the recommended daily intake for women and 26 percent for men, set by the Institute of Medicine. It also provides 18 milligrams of vitamin C, or roughly one-quarter of the recommended daily intake for women and one-fifth for men. Potato chips contain just 11 milligrams of vitamin C and offer no vitamin A.

  • Drawbacks

Despite their nutritional value, plantains fall short compared to potato chips when it comes to potassium and vitamin E content. Potassium plays a central role in the function of your nervous system and it also helps your muscles function, while vitamin E affects blood clotting and blood vessel function. Each 2-ounce portion of potato chips boasts 931 milligrams of potassium, or one-fifth of your Institute of Medicine-recommended daily intake, while plantain chips offer just 446 milligrams. Potato chips also contain 3.8 milligrams of vitamin E -- one-quarter of your daily recommended intake -- compared to 2.8 milligrams in plantain chips.

TechNews: Apple To Venture Into The Manufacturing Of Electric Cars in 2020

Apple Inc., which has been working secretly on a car, is pushing its team to begin production of an electric vehicle as early as 2020, people with knowledge of the matter said.
The timeframe -- automakers typically spend five to seven years developing a car -- underscores the project’s aggressive goals and could set the stage for a battle for customers with Tesla Motors Inc. and General Motors Co. Both automakers are targeting a 2017 release of an electric vehicle that can go more than 200 miles on a single charge and cost less than $40,000.
“That’s the inflection point -- the proving ground -- that brings on the electric age,” Steve LeVine, author of “The Powerhouse,” a book about the automotive battery industry, said on Bloomberg TV Thursday. “Now you have Apple coming in and this is critical mass. Was GM really going to be able to match Tesla? Apple can.”
Apple, which posted record profit of $18 billion during the past quarter, has $178 billion in cash with few avenues to spend it. The Cupertino, California-based company’s research and development costs were $6.04 billion in the past year, and Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook is facing increased pressure to return cash to shareholders. The CEO has been pushing the iPhone maker to enter new categories to further envelop users’ digital lives with Apple’s products and services.
Apple’s possible foray into cars follows a similar path it’s taken to break into other industries. The company wasn’t the first to make a digital-music player or smartphone, and only entered those markets once it had a product that redefined those categories.
Apple representatives declined to comment for this story.
Car Team
Apple cars are expected to hit roads in early 2020
Tesla’s success in creating a startup car company has shown that the traditional barriers of entry into the auto industry aren’t as difficult to overcome as originally thought, said one person, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private. At the same time, automakers have struggled to bring technical leaps to car development, something that Silicon Valley is also seeking to accomplish. For example, Google Inc. has invested in developing an autonomous vehicle since 2010.
“Apple would have some advantages as a new entrant to the auto industry,” including its cash, ability to connect with its own devices and the infancy of the electric-vehicle market, Barclays analysts Ben Reitzes and Brian Johnson wrote in a note to investors. “Finally, Apple’s brand – arguably the most important advantage – is a big attraction for the next generation of car customers.”
Apple may decide to scrap its car effort or delay it if executives are unhappy with progress, as they’ve done before with other secret projects, the people said. The car team, which already has about 200 people, began ramping up hiring within the past couple of months as the company sought out experts in technologies for batteries and robotics, said one of the people.
Battery Lawsuit
An experienced automaker typically spends five to seven years developing a new vehicle before bringing it to market, according to Dennis Virag, president of Automotive Consulting Group.
“If you’re starting from scratch, you’re probably talking more like 10 years,” Virag said. “A car is a very complex technological machine.”
A lawsuit filed this month gives a window into Apple’s efforts to create a automotive team for the project. Apple began around June an “aggressive campaign to poach” employees from A123 Systems LLC, the Waltham, Massachusetts-based battery maker said in the lawsuit.
Apple hired five people from A123 and has tried to hire battery experts from LG Chem Ltd., Samsung Electronics Co., Panasonic Corp., Toshiba Corp. and Johnson Controls Inc., according to the lawsuit.
“Apple is currently developing a large-scale battery division to compete in the very same field as A123,” the battery maker said in a separate state-court filing.
The recent hiring effort at A123 began with Mujeeb Ijaz, a former Ford Motor Co. engineer, who founded A123’s Venture Technologies division, which focused on materials research, cell product development and advanced concepts. He began at Apple in June and began hiring direct reports from A123’s venture technologies division, which he had headed.
How The Apple Car (iCar) would look like
Tesla CEO Elon Musk told Bloomberg Businessweek this month that Apple was seeking to hire away his workers, offering $250,000 signing bonuses and 60 percent salary increases.
Bricks and Mortar
“Apple is good at developing technology but car making is, and will continue to be, a bricks-and-mortar proposition,” Matt DeLorenzo, an analyst at Kelley Blue Book, wrote in an e-mail. “Apple will need a partner, perhaps a Chinese manufacturer, with an infrastructure if it’s going to hit the five-year goal.”
Some parts of the automotive industry seem unfazed by Silicon Valley’s increasing interest in the market. Last month, before Apple’s efforts were revealed, Volkswagen AG Chief Executive Officer Martin Winterkorn brushed off the increasing competition.
“We’re not afraid of these new competitors,” Winterkorn said at a reception outside Stuttgart, Germany, according to a transcript obtained by Bloomberg. “The opposite is true: they encourage us to look more intensively into the chances of the digital world.”

Watch: Mentally Disabled Man Comments On Dumsor

The state of Ghana's energy crisis is so appalling that it has come to the notice of even the physically challenged. A mentally retarded man on Wednesday February 18, 2015, joined thousands of members of the New Patriotic Party who took to the streets of Accra to demonstrate against the NDC government's “poor” handling of the nation’s energy crisis among other “leadership failures”.

The man who seemed very enthused about the protest march had an interesting explanation for the reason behind the demonstration.

Listen to the words he managed to mumble when asked by journalists if he was aware of the purpose of the protest march.

I Am Not On Drugs - UCC SRC Presidential Aspirant

I’m sure you might have heard of or watched the leaked videos of one Nana Abena Korkor Addo, a student of the University of Cape Coast which has gone viral on social media since yesterday.
Well, the girl claims she is responsible for leaking her own videos and although I’m tempted to think there is something wrong with her ‘upstairs’, she says claims there’s nothing wrong with her and all is well.
In a short video circulating on Instagram, Nana Abena Korkor Addo says;
“I won’t do any blame game, nobody paid me anything… I posted everything myself. I’m not on drugs, they can come and test my blood…what is my course? Bio-medical and Forensic Science. Check background before you act!”
The University of Cape Coast has begun investigations into the matter and the SRC President of the institution Francis Kwabena Arthur says, Nana Abena had not been confirmed as a candidate for their imminent SRC elections so therefore she could not hold herself as such.

Well, my little checks suggest Abena is a female activist and a member of The African Research Academies for Women, an organization with a mission to encourage and inspire STEM education among African women.

Lil Wayne Breaks Silence On Lawsuit - Hints At Retirement

Last December, Lil Wayne hit send on a series of tweets that rocked the music world. "I am a prisoner and so is my creativity," he wrote, blaming Cash Money Records and its cofounder, Bryan "Birdman" Williams, for refusing to release his long-delayed album Tha Carter V. "I want off this label and nothing to do with these people, but unfortunately it ain't that easy."

Eight weeks later, the 32-year-old rapper dropped another bombshell: In a 21-page document filed with a federal court in New York on January 28th, Wayne sued Cash Money for $51 million, citing a wide range of alleged financial misdeeds. Among other things, the lawsuit claimed that Cash Money withheld key accounting documents from Wayne, and that the label owes him $8 million for Tha Carter V under a 2012 deal that guaranteed a staggering $10 million advance per album. (Cash Money reps did not respond to repeated requests for comment.)
Lil Wayne has been one of Cash Money's flagship stars since he signed with the label at age 12, and for years he saw Williams as a father figure, frequently dubbing himself "Birdman Jr." on record. But that relationship has broken down, perhaps irreparably. Wayne tells Rolling Stone that he and Birdman are no longer on speaking terms. "I have no words," he says. "I'm super-numb to it, to tell you the truth."

It's 2 p.m. Miami time when Rolling Stone reaches the rapper by phone last week. But Wayne is just waking up and is understandably prickly about discussing the lawsuit. "That's a legal matter, homeboy," he says. As for the "I am a prisoner" tweet from December, he tries to play it off with a sex joke at first: "I love being a prisoner in some pussy. That's what I meant." After we talk some more, he admits that the legal wrangling has been weighing on his mind. "I'm human," he says. "But it's nothing that a good blunt can't cure."
Wayne says that Tha Carter V, which he finished recording some time ago, is on ice for now. "It's super-done," he says. "Cake baked, icing on top, name on top, candles lit. I would have released it yesterday if I could. But it's a dead subject right now. It's a jewel in the safe. It's that stash-house money."
In the meantime, he's been putting in 12-hour studio shifts on an all-new project: the cleverly titled The Free Weezy Album, which he plans to release for free in March. "I'm working on it every day, man," he says. "I guarantee it's going to be something dope. If you don't want a musician being creative, don't get The Free Weezy Album."
The album will follow another unconventional release from Wayne's circle: If You're Reading This It's Too Late, by his protégé Drake, which went up for sale online in mid-February with no advance warning. The project, which includes some apparent lyrical shots at Cash Money, sold nearly 500,000 copies in its first four days and debuted on the Billboard 200 at Number One.
"Right now, anybody could put out a new song on the Internet and it could become the hottest thing ever," Wayne says. "When I was starting, you couldn’t do that type of shit. But that's wonderful – the game is wide open, and my job is just to stay vital."
Wayne keeps up with younger artists – "I like Rae Sremmurd and Migos," he says – but after nearly 20 years in the business, he feels that his age is starting to show. "Sometimes I don't know what the hell they're talking about on Instagram," he says with a laugh. When that happens, he turns to his 16-year-old daughter, Reginae: "I had to call her, like, 'What the hell is "on fleek"?'"
Last year, Wayne hinted that he might be ready to retire from music, but he says he's got other ideas now. "I've thought about it," he says. "But for a person like me that bleeds, eats, sleeps and shits music, it's hard to do." He hopes to spend much of 2015 on tour, and he'd like to do some recording overseas while he's at it. "When I go home, I want my actual house to be a vacation," he says. "And I might give y'all three new kids from four different women. You know how I do it."

Lil Wayne's Free Weezy Album Due In March

Lil Wayne says he's no longer speaking to Birdman, and confirms that "The Free Weezy Album" is on the way.
Lil Wayne hasn't revealed much on the going-ons between him and Birdman, save for a few tweets and the legal documents that surfaced after he filed his $51 million-lawsuit against Cash Money. Recently Weezy got on the phone with Rolling Stone, and opened up a bit about his current situation, including The Free Weezy Album.
Around Valentine's Day it was reported that FWA would be dropping as a mixtape, and although Lil Wayne tweets hinted at this too, Mack Maine shot it down. Talking to Rolling Stone, Wayne confirmed that he is working on it while he waits on the release of Tha Carter V (which he says is "super-done"), and that he plans to release it for free in March.
"I'm working on it every day, man," he said of FWA. "I guarantee it's going to be something dope. If you don't want a musician being creative, don't get The Free Weezy Album."

As for the highly anticipated C5, he says, "It's super-done. Cake baked, icing on top, name on top, candles lit. I would have released it yesterday if I could. But it's a dead subject right now. It's a jewel in the safe. It's that stash-house money."
Finally, on the subject of Birdman, Tunechi is reportedly no longer speaking to the man he dubbed his father. "I have no words," he said of the situation. "I'm super-numb to it, to tell you the truth." He also would not speak on the ongoing legal issues.

The Reason Behind Drake's Surprise Album Release

It's still unclear whether If You're Reading This is a price-tagged mixtape or if his long-awaited fourth LP, tentatively titled Views From the 6, evolved into this collection. The album features previously released cuts like "6 God" and "Used To," the rapper's collaboration with Lil Wayne that also appears on Wayne's Sorry 4 The Wait 2. Views From the 6's rumored artwork also appears on the bottom half of the If You're Reading This cover.
In addition to Lil Wayne, the-light-on-features If You're Reading This also boasts appearances by Travi$ Scott and OVO's in-house singer PartyNextDoor. Longtime Drake producers Boi-1da and Noah "40" Shebib" contribute beats t
o Drake's latest along with Vinylz (who recently teamed up with Drake, Kanye West and Big Sean for the latter's "Blessings"), Illmind, Wondagurl, Frank Dukes and PartyNextDoor.

Given what's transpired between Drake and Diddy in recent months, many on social media wondered about the timing of the release. Drake unveiled the album at the same time Diddy performed at a live-streamed pre-NBA All-Star Game concert in New York, leaving fans to speculate if the Nothing Was the Same rapper was trying to overshadow the Bad Boy mogul. Diddy has allegedly accused Drake of stealing the beat to the Grammy-nominated hit "0-100/The Call Up," even though Boi-1da offered it to both rappers. The beef resulted in Diddy reportedly punching Drake at a Miami nightclub this past December.

Drake Releases Surprise Album - Hints On Cash MoneyExit

Rap superstar Drake surprised everyone Friday, 13th February with the sudden, unexpected release of a new project. The 17-song record, If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late, came out just hours after the rapper released a long-form music video called Jungle.

Always one for grand statements, Drake saw his surprise new mixtape “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” explodes onto the top of the U.S. album chart, selling 535,000 units and finally dethroning Taylor Swift’s monster hit, “1989,” which had spent 11 non-consecutive weeks at the No. 1 spot.

Label squabbles aside, Drake’s latest has already made headlines for other reasons, chiefly its big week on Spotify. According to Billboard, “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” has achieved the highest number of streams for a debut week in Spotify history (17.3 million streams in three days), beating out Drake’s own “Nothing Was the Same,” which previously held that record with 15.8 million streams.
In addition to Drake’s huge week, a second release entered this week’s chart with, ahem, a bang: the soundtrack to “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which moved 258,000 units following the film’s complete domination of Valentine’s Day weekend (raking in $94.4 million). The album features sensual tunes from Beyonce, Ellie Goulding and Sia, among others.
So where does that leave Ms. Swift? The reign of “1989” may be coming to an end, with the album slipping to the chart’s fifth spot this week, moving 125,000 units, a 16% change from last week, when Swift was still No. 1. This lapse coincides with the lukewarm reception for Swift’s latest music video, “Style,” which some found to be “very boring.”

The album follows on the heels of recent similar little-or-no-notice projects  by D’Angelo, J. Cole, and, of course, Beyonce. While D’Angelo’s Black Messiah and Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive both sold well and were critically acclaimed, Drake’s album, in terms of sheer numbers, is closest to Queen Bey. The Beyhive snatched up 80 thousand copies of her 2013 self-titled record in the first three hours, on the way to sales of over 600,000 in the first few days. It was platinum by week three,  and has now sold over five million worldwide.
Drake’s record is starting out almost as strong. It looks like his first-three-day sales total will be around 500,000 - maybe not Nothing Was the Same, which had a more traditional (and, by extension, expensive) roll-out, had
first-week sales of 658,000. If Drizzy ends up anywhere close to that after week one, the current trend of sudden superstar albums is likely to continue for a while to come.
Bey’s 617,000, but within shouting distance. For comparison, the rapper’s last album,
The mystery surrounding this album is intense, and has almost overshadowed the music. There have been months of rumors about Drake releasing a mixtape. Simultaneously, he has been talking of an upcoming album since this past summer; one he claimed would be called Views From the 6. As of yet, he hasn’t said whether this is meant to replace one of those projects, or is in addition to it. However, he does call it a “tape” in the project’s handwritten thank you’s.
The somewhat sparse nature of the record has led to speculation that it was released as a contractual obligation, because he wants to get off of Cash Money Records. There is a certain plausibility to this theory, since the label’s flagship artist Lil Wayne is currently suing them, and Nicki Minaj reportedly turned away label co-founder Birdman from her recent Grammy party. Wayne has been very public about wanting to takeMinaj and Drake with him when he leaves Cash Money.
It is not known how many albums Drake owes the label, but it is public knowledge that Wayne had a four-album deal. This release would, not surprisingly, be Drizzy’s fourth, something that has not gone unnoticed. In addition, there was a fair amount of confusion around the record’s release. All of If You’re Reading This… was briefly available for free on Soundcloud right after going up on iTunes, then taken down.
There is one final clue as to Drake’s state of mind. Notably, the thank-you’s for the album, which go as far as to mention “Amanda who took me to that poetry reading in Baltimore” and “the entire Raptors organization,” have no mention of Birdman or Cash Money.

NEWS: DEBORAH VANESSA COULD BE ARRESTED

The pretty TV presenter/model/ musician was worried about what she claimed to be false reports of her raking in millions of cedis with her nude photo on social media but she has more to worry about after the revelation that, she could be arrested over her spreading of the said money-making nude picture(s).
Legal luminary, John Assan Benson, has advised that any Ghanaian can lodge an official complain to the police for Debora Vanessa Owusu Bonsu aka Deborah Vanessa or Sister Debbie –to be arrested for circulating her naked pictures on the internet.
Unknown to many Ghanaians, the public circulation of naked pictures or videos – whether willingly or unwillingly is a criminal offence – it’s against Ghana’s Criminal Act.
The Criminal Act states: “A person who publishes or offer for sale an obscene book, writing, or representation commits a misdemeanor”- section 280 of Criminal Offences Act, 1960.(Act 29) Section 281 (1) of Act 29 also states that “A person commits a misdemeanor (a) for the purpose of or by way of trade, or for the purpose of distribution or public exhibition , makes , produces, or has in his possession any one or more obscene writing , drawings , prints , paintings, printed matter, picture, emblem , photographs, cinematography films or other obscene objects.”
The Criminal Code of Ghana debars anyone from publishing or offering for sale, any material that has the tendency to deprave societal morals. Any publication that is unnecessarily and improperly calculated to excite passions or corrupt those whose minds are open to such immoral influences can be held for promoting obscenity.
Obscenity also involves having in your possession, putting into circulation or publicly exhibiting obscene drawings, prints, posters, photographs or any other related obscene objects. This means that downloading indecent materials and images from the internet as is often done, also amounts to a criminal offence, even though there are no plans to publish or circulate the obscene objects.
This is because downloading constitutes a pseudo- photograph (would-be). Moreover, downloading in effect is making a new copy of the original material. Possessing a material of obscene nature amounts to an offence, whether or not there is intent to circulate it. For the purposes of trading or sale in obscene publication, if any person imports, conveys or exports materials related to obscenity, that person also commits a criminal offence.
In an interview with Lawyer Benson, he corroborated the illegality in Deborah Vanessa’s conduct. “It’s criminal! Under our criminal codes, you can’t circulate nude pictures of yourself or another person. You can’t publish that. She (Vanessa) who put it out there and all those who further circulated are all liable.”
He added that, “Even the newspapers in town that carries naked pictures of girls on their front pages commits criminal acts! Unfortunately, that portion of the law nobody seems interested in. The police are not interested in enforcing it” he explained.
Though the paper drew Lawyer Benson’s attention to the fact that Deborah Vanessa willingly snapped and uploaded her nude picture unto her Instagram page, he insisted that her will to share is what even makes the case worse. “On her own, she can pose nude and snap but the moment it’s published or circulated in the public, it becomes criminal under our criminal codes!” he emphasized.
He also advised that, “Any Ghanaian can lodge an official complaint at the Police Station for her to be invited, arrested and prosecuted.”
Sister Debbie confirmed on Neat FM’s Tuesday Entertainment Ghana on 20th Jan, 2014, her action without mincing words. She said: “Boudoir photography is into arts and modeling as well. That is something I do and I am passionate about. In our society, majority of us are not used to such photographs, which is fine,” she said.
Boudoir photography is another form of photography that has to do with taking sexually suggestive images of nude women or women in lingerie at luxurious hotel suites. According to Sister Debbie, the artistic nude picture was barter between herself and her photographer who was working on one f her projects.
“The artistic nude picture which was taken in June 2014 is a barter trade between me and my photographer and that is not the first nude picture that I have put out there. I have three sets. I said barter because when I need promo pictures which should cost me over GH¢2,000, the photographer will do it for me,” she added.
The ‘Borla’ singer, who received a lot of bashing from her Ghanaian fans after her nude pictures were released, disclosed that when she gets those negative remarks about her nude pictures she does not get angry.
She continued: “When people see the picture and they don’t like it, I don’t get mad. It is not a problem because if you don’t understand, it is normal that you would dislike it or something.  I feel as a human being, if you are passionate about something you should do it as long as it is legal and it won’t affect anyone or you won’t be attacking anyone.”
She also admitted that since she posted the picture on Instagram, views on her YouTube account had shot up massively.
“When I found out that the picture was already out there and people were tweeting, I also posted it myself so that people will not think it was a leaked picture. Around that period, the views for my ‘Borla’ video had gone down and, yes, after I posted the picture myself, my views shot up to about 5,000 views. So yes, it did help and I would agree to the fact that I used it to push myself,” she noted.
She recently expressed her happiness at a recent feature of her naked picture by a Romanian newspaper, LiberTatea Lumea.  In the publication, she is praised for outshining Kim Kardashian.
Deborah, who was the 1st runner-up of Miss Malaika Beauty Contest in 2004, again, posted a picture of the newspaper publication on her Instagram page and remarked:
“I woke up in Romanian newspaper #LiberTateaLumea in @mummyzboi ‘s locker room in Cluj!!! It says that I’m one of the most loved Ghanaian artistes especially because of my songs and extremely hot pictures and that African media soon forgot about Kim K’s nude pics after I posted mine to the delight of my fans.”
